People often express feelings indirectly through the clothes that they wear. The season can influence the way people feel; therefore, the clothes that people wear change. In this project, I explore the relationship between weather, emotions, and clothing. I found that cold weather and cloudy skies slow the pace of life and the emotions and feelings of people follow suit. The models expressed the feeling of depression when the weather is cloudy, as opposed to an uplift in their mood when the sun is shining. In this series, I decided to focus on the gloomy and moody atmosphere that surrounds cloudy skies and fall weather. These photos have captured these photos in black and white to complement the moody vibe. As captured in this series, fall weather seems to induce the use of beanies and long sleeves, but the use of these items are styled differently for each person that uses them. It is evident that people are affected by their surroundings, but I also believe that people can influence their surroundings. The weather may be a reflection of the collective mood of the people/living things in an area. People, the environment, the weather, and clothing seem to be all interconnected and relate to each other. These aspects seem to exist on their own but are also interrelated. Clothing is the expression of people's feelings on the physical level.
